So, last we left off we were just getting done getting all the wood chips, roots and landscape fabric wrapped up. It took about 3 hours and 6 people to complete that project - geez, I can't even imagine how long it would have taken the two of use by ourselves!

After getting all the gunk out - before tilling |
The next up - rototilling! We rented the equipment for a local shop and got to work. Cayce tilled and I supervised. It was quite the machine and took about 4 hours to complete. I was proud of my hubby for doing such a manly task! Once that was complete we leveled out the ground with rakes and used a rented lawn roller to pack down the dirt. I think we could have done a better job on this part as we didn't get all the sections completely even and you can tell when you are walking in the grass, but we were really exhausted at this point!
Next up was grass. This is where we were really stuck, like REALLY stuck. We didn't want to pony up the money for sod and so we thought about planting grass seed. I think this would have worked nicely IF we didn't have a housewarming party scheduled in like 7 day. I started looking through craigslist and found an ad for brand new sod at a steal AND - here was the seller, the people lived only a few short blocks from us! We went and got the sod and the people we so nice and gave us the info for the place they bought the sod from in case we wanted to match it and low and behold, once we got that beautiful green grass in place - I WANTED MORE! I called the company the next day and had them deliver another 500sq ft.
